AGD Convocation Ceremony and Celebration

2023 Convocation Information

The AGD2023 Convocation Ceremony will take place at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, NV, on Saturday July 22, 2023.  Members who wish to receive an award or recognition during the 2023 ceremony must apply for their award or recognition no later December 31, 2022. Cap and Gown Orders (Fellows and Masters Only)

All 2023 Fellow and Master Awardees can reserve a cap and gown to wear during the 2023 Convocation Ceremony. Reservation information will be emailed to all approved applicants in April 2023. 

Note: LLSR recipient do not wear caps and gowns.  LLSR recipients should dress in business attire to accept their pin and honor stole onstage. 

Convocation Rehearsal

Rehearsal will be Saturday, July 22, 2023, approximately one hour before the Convocation Ceremony.  It is recommended that 2023 awardees do not make any plans after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday July 22, 2023. 

Convocation Ceremony

The Convocation ceremony will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Caesars Palace. Time to be determined. Doors will open for guest seating approximately 15 minutes before the ceremony begins. Ample, non-reserved seating will be available. Tickets are registration are not needed to attend the Convocation Ceremony. All guests are welcome. 

Helpful Hints for Convocation

  • Wear comfortable clothing. Suit jackets or heavy clothing will be uncomfortable under your robe.
  • Eat before you arrive for rehearsal. You will not have an opportunity to eat before the ceremony.
  • Come to rehearsal in your cap and gown. Please dispose of the bag and hanger holding your robe prior to arriving. 
  • Do not bring excess belongings, such as a briefcase, laptops, etc., to the ceremony as there is no space to store such items.

The AGD photographer will take photos of all awardees as they cross the stage. Family members may take photos from their seats; Please remind your family members that they will not be allowed to enter the aisles or approach the stage to take pictures.

Guests at the Convocation Ceremony

Guests attending only the Convocation ceremony are NOT required to register for AGD2023 or the Convocation ceremony. Doors to ceremony will open 15 minutes prior for general guest seating. There will be ample seating for all guests in the ballroom.  Please encourage your guests to arrive no more than ten minutes before the doors are scheduled to open.

Photos for Convocation Slideshow

You are invited to submit photos of you and your family or of you and your staff so they can be included in a slideshow shown before and after the Convocation ceremony. Send up to four photos in JPEG format to education@agd.org by July 1, 2023.  Please label photos by your last name, first initial and number. Example SmithJ_1, SmithJ_2, etc.

Convocation Portraits

Awardees and LLSR recipients, and their families are invited to have a formal portrait taken at the AGD2023 Photo Studio. This is an ideal time to update your professional head shot or have a formal portrait in your cap and gown. An on-stage photo of you with 2023 AGD President, Hans P. Guter, DDS, FAGD will be available for purchase approximately two weeks after the ceremony. Watch for more information on how to schedule your onsite appointment. 

Regional Group Photos

Many regions have scheduled times for group photos on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Please contact your regional director or constituent executive early July 2023. You should arrive for your group photo dressed in your cap and gown. Extra caps and gowns will not be available for group photos.
